Jewell Bryson Hale Melton, 81, died at her home in the Short Mountain Community on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 following a short illness.

A native of Cannon County, she was retired from Genesco.

Survivors include he children, Brenda (Gerald) Motley, Harry (Eddena) Hale, Larry Hale and James (Marilyn) Hale, all of the Short Mountain Community; grandchildren, Donna Motley James, Robert Motley, Jeremy Motley, Stephen Hale, Craig Hale, Leslie and Leslie Hale Pelham.

Also surviving at 18 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Melton was the daughter of the late Lucian Bryson and Sarah Lavada Stone Bryson Melton. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Shelah Hale and Frank Melton, a son, Freddie Hale and daughter-in-law, Brenda Hale.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16 at Woodbury Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be in the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 with Bro. Tim Pelham and Bro. Tim Pack officiating.

Burial will be in Melton Cemetery.
