Water hike OK'd on first reading

Woodbury's Board of Aldermen approved, on first reading, a measure to increase the cost of water 25 percent for Woodbury residents over the next three years.

Ordinance 484 will undergo a public hearing and a final vote on second reading at the board's July 6th meeting.

The change includes a minimum charge of $13.75 for the first 2,000 gallons of water inside Woodbury's city limits. The rate for the next 2,000 gallons will be $4 per 1,000 gallons.

Sewer rates inside the city limits will be a minimum of $15.85 for the first 2,000 gallons of water and $5 per 1,000 gallons over 2,000 gallons of water. Outside the city limits the first 2,000 gallons of water will have a minimum charge of $18.15 while the rate will be $7.80 per 1,000 gallons over 2000 gallons of water.

Woodbury's Aldermen also OK'd the first reading of proposed ordinance 485 which upgrades traffic offenses to include new texting while driving laws.
