A Petty Gap Road resident was arrested by the Cannon County Sheriff's Department on multiple meth-related charges.

Taken into custody was William Terry Huneke, 49. He faces initiation of methamphetamine manufacture, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling charges.

Investigator Brandon Gullett had received information that Huneke was making Meth at his home. He subsequently ran Huneke's name through that state's NPLEXE pseudo registry and discovered the suspect was purchasing pseudoephedrine medications (cold pills) two to three times a month.

Pseudoephedrine, a decongestant, can be used to make meth.

Gullett then conducted a "knock and talk" at Huneke's home.

Huneke denied making any recent purchases of pseudoephedrine. Gullett then asked if had manu-0factured meth and he "became very quiet."

Gullett asked if the Sheriff's Department could search Huneke's home and the suspect declined to allow them in without a search warrant. Investigator Anthony Young, Sgt. Tommy Miller and Deputy Joshua Thomas secured the property, while Gullett and Sheriff Darrell Young secured a search warrant.

Gullett and the Sheriff returned to Huneke's home and served the search warrant.

"I then asked William Terry Huneke if there was going to be anything inside the residence, which he stated that he had some Coleman fuel inside," Gullett said.

"I was then shown a gallon can of Coleman fuel that was hidden behind a set of speakers," the investigator said.

That wasn't all the officers discovered in the room that contained a desk and a computer.

Drano crystals, lye and crushed up pseudo pills were found along with lithium batteries and other meth makings.

Photographs were taken and evidence was collected. The Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force was notified to clean up the trash and wastes from meth making, Gullett said.

Huneke was transported to the Cannon County Jail where he was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak to deputies without a lawyer present.
