Registered Cannon County voters turned out in a consistent steady fashion averaging a little over 100 per day in the early voting time frame between Friday, July 17th and Thursday, July 30th, according to totals released daily by the Cannon County Election Office. The highest number of early voters to walk into the South Tatum Street office was the first day of early voting Friday, July 17th which saw 117 voters cast their ballots. The lowest number was 63 which occurred on Saturday, July 25th. Numbers reached 100 voters or over nine times during the 13 day period.
Secretary of State Tre Hargett stopped by the Cannon County Election Offices Tuesday afternoon and was encouraged to witness the long line of early voters taking part in the process. “It’s good to see a crowd here at 3:00,” he told the voters waiting in line.
Hargett is touring all 95 counties. “We’re trying to make all 95 counties. We’re getting close to wrapping up visiting all of Middle Tennessee.”
Hargett is impressed by what he’s seen so far in his travels. “We have a lot of administrators who work very hard. The most important piece is the poll workers and show that Democrats and Republicans can work together to make sure people can cast their vote,” he said.
