Tennessee Tech University is recognizing National Transfer Student Week, held Oct. 20–24, by waiving the application fee for domestic undergraduate transfer students applying for all 2026 semesters.
Prospective transfer students who apply to Tech during the weeklong promotion will save $25 through the waived fee. The application takes only 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
“Transfer students are such an important part of our community, and we want to make the process as simple and straightforward as possible for them to enroll at Tennessee Tech,” said Morgan Holcomb, transfer specialist in Tech’s Office of Admissions. “Waiving the undergraduate application fee for any domestic transfer student — in state or out of state — is our way of telling this student population that we’re saving a place for them on our campus.”
A 2023 Tech graduate who first came to the university as a transfer student herself, Holcomb said taking the guesswork out of the transfer process is a top priority for the Office of Admissions.
“We have a whole transfer team within the Admissions Office to serve these students and identify anything that could be a barrier for someone looking to transfer to Tech,” Holcomb said. “That’s why we’re offering to review unofficial transcripts and provide guidance even before a student formally applies. We’re also working closely with the Office of the Registrar to ensure a personalized course equivalency process that makes it easier for students to enroll without missing a beat.”
The university additionally offers transfer-specific VIP campus visits, typically held on the last Wednesday of every month, and provides guaranteed “Flight to Tech” transfer scholarships of up to $3,000 per year for eligible students with a 3.0 minimum GPA.
Having navigated the transfer process as a student, Holcomb said her best advice to today's prospective transfer students is to reach out early and often to get their questions answered.
“We are here to guide you through the process and help you find your best path to Tennessee Tech,” she said. “And with the application fee being waived during National Transfer Student Week, there’s never been a better time to apply."
