In the last few weeks, at least two serious accidents have involved farm equipment on Tennessee roads. Farmers and drivers share the road, and the responsibility to keep each other safe. As harvest season gears up, it's more important than ever to stay alert and practice patience.
Slow down when you see tractors or combines.
Give plenty of space
Be patient
Never pass in a no-passing zone or when you can’t see clearly ahead.
Use lights and signals
Farmers and drivers each play a vital role on our roads. Agricultural equipment is often on the move early in the morning or late in the evening, when visibility can be reduced. These machines are wide, slow-moving, and not always able to pull over quickly. At the same time, drivers may be navigating busy schedules or unfamiliar rural routes.
By staying alert, patient, and respectful, we can all help prevent accidents and ensure everyone makes it home safely.
