A Message on Solid Waste

The County Commission recently reduced the Solid Waste budget by an additional $17,934 in addition to a reduction made during the last budget cycle.

Although the Solid Waste budget is only 5 percent of the overall budget, it was been reduced from 18 cents of the property tax revenue in 2013 to 15 cents this year. Another $17,934 reduction sets the budget at 22% less than in 2013. While at the same time, the tonnage of garbage has increased each year.

With this and the other budget cuts we have experienced since 2013, we have been forced to reduce the services now offered. A lot of thought has been put into how to cut services to minimize the disruption to our citizens. Hopefully, we can restore some of the services as the budget dictates.

We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause. We ask that everyone please work with us as we attempt to serve the public as best we can.
