Virginia Ruth O’Neal Phillips, 84, of Auburntown, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at University Medical Center in Lebanon.

A native of Wilson County, she was a graduate of Watertown High School, a member of the Auburn Baptist Church, and was retired from Auburntown Bank.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Auburn Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Osborne officiating. Burial was in Odom Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Lynn (Cathy) O’Neal of Auburntown; a daughter, Darnelle (Jim) Brown of Liberty; grandchildren, Tracy (Ravi) Goins of Auburntown, Emily (Chris) Crook of Liberty, Jason (Jennifer) Brown of Auburntown, Jeanna (Tracy) Caplinger of Auburntown; great grandchildren, Emma Claire and Caitlyn Crook, Carly and Ben Brown, Kayna and Kayley Caplinger, Lauryn and Colin Crawley, Dustin Mears; sister, Dorthy (Van) Jennings of Statsville; neice, Diane (Floyd) Gates of Statesville.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, J.T. O’Neal and Magnus Phillips and her parents, Theodore and Elizabeth Armstrong.

Pallbearers were Jason Brown, Floyd Gaddes, Chris Crook, Jimmy Mingle, Roger Tate, Jason Reed and Tracy Caplinger.
