Oleta Hughes Thompson passed away on Feb. 8, 2010. A native of Cannon Co., she resided in Murfreesboro.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Al Bugg officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
She is survived by her son, Wade (Debby) Hughes of Knoxville; Daughter-in-law, Sherry Hughes of Milton; Son-in-law, Mike Schoen of Lebanon; 2 Brothers, Willie Brown (Ruby) Smithson of Murfreesboro and Ed (Shirley) Smithson of Auburntown; Sister-in-law, Kathy Smithson of Woodbury; 7 grandchildren, Terri (Michael) Hollis, Perry (Ann) Hughes, Cherrie Lynn (Joe) Reed, Chris (Regina) Hughes, Nick Hughes, Lance Schoen, Celia (David) Bernheisel; 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces & nephews.
Ms. Oleta was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Brown Smithson & Mai Keaton Smithson; her husband, Cecil Hughes; son, Jerry Hughes; daughter, Laketa Rose Schoen; brother, Lynn Smithson; sister, Mattie Hughes & brother-in-law, Melvin (Boots) Hughes.
