Nancy Drue Robinson, age 81 went home to be with our Heavenly Father on January 30, 2012.  She lived a life of love and kindness with a cheerful spirit.  She always had a smile for every person she met and never an unkind word.  She is an angel of the Lord. Nancy passed away in Georgia where she had moved after retiring from her 41-year career in the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary library.

Nancy was born on August 9, 1930 to William McKinley and Gladys Robinson in Auburntown, Tennessee.  She was a graduate of Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, TN in 1953 and received a degree of Bachelor of Science in Library Science from the Library School of Peabody College, Nashville.

Upon graduation she joined the library of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where she served for 41 years. In 1954, Nancy came on a train from Nashville to Louisville to start her career as catalog librarian and was greeted by a room full of foreign language books which needed to be cataloged for the seminary library. She tackled the job and was successful.

In 1971, the Seminary bought a library computer terminal and Nancy supervised the entering of bibliographical information into a national database of computer records. In 1981 she served on the Seminary's facilities self-study committee and proposed additional ramps and elevators to make every building on Southern Seminary's campus accessible to handicapped personnel.

In 1985-1986 she worked with the Music Librarian to catalog and to label all media in the AV Library, creating a card catalog where there had been a book catalog, supervising the typing of about 100,000 cards on memory typewriters. During 1989 through 1991 she supervised the retrospective conversion of 108,000 book titles from the card catalog format into computer format in preparation for a library computer system.

Prior to Nancy's retirement, for the last couple years of her career, she drove a mobility scooter to the library from her apartment on the Seminary campus as a result of the return of polio symptoms. Nancy has been characterized as the lady with a wonderful smile who never said she couldn't do something; but instead as a person who always found a way to get the job done. She was truly a can-do lady!

She was a member of Highland Baptist Church, Louisville, KY and the Joan Sutton Baptist Women.

She has gone on to join her parents and brother  Billy Robinson in heaven.

Nancy  is survived by sister Lenora Elizabeth Carroll, brother Franklin Robinson, sister-in-laws Ura Robinson, Samantha Robinson;  nieces Beverly Padgett, Marian Boyd, Cynthia Barrett, Catherine Bartlett;, nephews Paul Thomas Carroll Jr, Mike Robinson, Greg Robinson, John Robinson, Frank Robinson, Jr. and many great- nieces and nephews.
