Jane Alexander

Jane Alexander, 85, of Smithville, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at DeKalb Community Hospital.

A member of the Church of Christ, she was a bookkeeper for Smithville Motors and a member of the BMPW Club.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandye and Steve Hays of Smithville; two grandchildren, Brett and Tara Hays of Murfreesboro and Shea and Darrick Colwell of Smithville; four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Amber Hays of Murfreesboro, Erin and Emme Colwell of Smithville; four sisters-in-law, Hattie Elrod of Porterfield, Jean (Robert) Drewry of Murfreesboro, Waldean Mitchell and Hazel Neely of Murfreesboro; and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nellie Elrod; husband, John Alexander; brother, Dorris Elrod; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Robert and Jean Alexander of Smithville; brothers-in-law, Gene Mitchell and Ed Neely of Murfreesboro; great nephew, David Wayne Alexander of Smithville.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, in the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home in Smithville with Bro. Dan Gulley and Bro. Tim Woodward officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Woodbury.

Pallbearers were Bobby Lee, Darrick Colwell, Tommy Alexander, Jim Alexander, Rob Alexander, Gary Rains, Daniel Alexander and Caleb Gash.
