Curtis Morris, 80, died Monday, January 25, 2010 at his home in Woodbury following an extended illness.

A native of Cannon County, Morris was a former Cannon County Tax Assessor (1972 to 1976) and a founding member of the Cannon County Walking Horse Association

Morris was also farrier, the owner of a tack and shoe repair business and a member of the Sunny Slope Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at the Woodbury Church of Christ at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28 with Bro. Greg Mitchell and Bro. James McDonald officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Woodbury Funeral Home.

He was the son of the late Mark Morris and Robbie Lee Morris and was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Young Morris, and two sisters, Rayola Teal and Joyce Grizzell.

Survivors include his son, Donnie Lee Morris of Woodbury; his daughter, Benita Haley of Woodbury; two granddaughters, Callie and Hannah Haley of Woodbury; his brother, Lowell Morris of Centertown; and his sister, Judy Shewmake of Murfreesboro. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may go toward the construction of a memorial at the CCWHA Campground.
