Catherine Toliver Denny

Mrs. Catherine Toliver Denny, 91, passed away on January 27, 2013 at the Woodbury Nursing Center after an extended illness. She was born in Cannon County on February 24, 1921. Her parents were the late Benny Toliver and Edd & Octie Lyon Haley. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gerald Denny; two sons, Ray Denny and Ronnie Denny and a daughter, Wilma Clemons.


She is survived by a daughter Marion & John Campbell of Woodbury; daughter-in-law, Reba Denny of Woodbury; grandsons, Jeffrey Denny of Woodbury, Gerry & Marilyn Campbell of Norene, Kevin & Karen Campbell of Murfreesboro and Kyle & Jenni Campbell of Lufkin, TX; granddaughters, Darlene & Lynn Luna of Sparta, Lisa & Billy Choate of Woodbury, Cynthia & Rick Barnes of Smyrna; great grandchildren, Ethan Campbell, Tristan Choate, Ramsay Campbell, Miranda Luna, Benjamin Campbell, Grayson Campbell, Treva Luna and Rachel Choate, Barbara Broads, Sarah Cornell, Zack Dickey, Zeke & Laura Dickey and three great great grandchildren.


Mrs. Denney was member of the Church of Christ. She was a sewing machine operator with Colonial Shirt Factory, White Stag and other clothing companies. She was an avid reader and loved to ride horses. She loved her family, they were everything to her.


 Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 3-8 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 10 AM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Her grandsons, Kevin and Kyle Campbell will officiate. Interment will follow in Thyatira Cemetery.
