NASHVILLE (Oct. 23, 2009) – Alli Arms, of Woodbury, has been selected to perform in the Lipscomb University A Cappella Singers for the 2009-10 season.
Arms, a Blackman High School graduate, sings with the 66 member choral group. The next performance of the Lipscomb University A Cappella Singers will be held on Sunday, Nov. 1 at the Bellevue Church of Christ in Nashville.
The A Cappella Singers have been a feature of the Lipscomb University Department of Music since 1960 and have performed in 39 states and eleven foreign countries, in venues ranging from the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris to a small church building in rural Alabama. In June 2008 the A Cappella Singers traveled to Rome, Florence and Venice, Italy, and Vienna, Austria.
The A Cappella Singers perform a broad range of choral music, incorporating music from all periods including sacred and secular works. Concerts often feature Renaissance motets and madrigals, American folk songs, traditional and contemporary hymn arrangements.
The A Cappella Singers, directed by Dr. Gary Wilson, are among six ensembles available to students at Lipscomb, including the Chamber Ensemble and Chamber Singers, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band and Jazz Vocal Ensemble.
Lipscomb’s music department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
