Not letting your friends drive while drunk is a message which apparently hasn’t registered yet with one McMinnville couple.

Tara H. Spencer, 63 Palmer Lane, McMinnville, was charged with DUI by Consent on Jan. 27 by Woodbury Patrolman Chris Brown.

Spencer allegedly allowed her fiancée, Shane M. West, 39 Church St., McMinnville, to drive her vehicle while he was intoxicated on drugs and/or alcohol.

Patrolman Brown stopped West for running the red light at the intersection of W. Main St. and W. Adams St. in Woodbury while driving Spencer’s vehicle at a speed of 80 mph in a 30 mph zone. Spencer was a passenger in the vehicle.

She stated to Patrolman Brown she allowed West to drive while he was drinking a beer.

In addition to speeding and failure to obey a traffic control device, West was also charged with DUI, driving on a revoked license, fourth offense, and violation of the implied consent law.

Total bond for West was set at $8,000. Spencer’s bond was set at $3,000. Initial appearance in Cannon Coiunty General Sessions Court for both subjects is Feb. 15.
