Two Charged With Aggravated Child Abuse

The Woodbury Police Department has charged two persons with aggravated child abuse following an incident which allegedly occurred on March 14.

Following an investigation, Woodbury Police Chief Tony Burnett obtained warrants against the two on March 23.

Carla M. Monick, 118 Stage Manor Rd., Woodbury, allegedly struck her eight-year-old son with a wooden paddle six times while in a fit of rage, causing severe bruising to the skin of both sides of his buttocks.

Joseph Reagan McFerrin, 924 W. Main St., Woodbury, allegedly also struck the child with the wooden paddle, after observing Monick do so.

Bond was set at $10,000 for both Monick and McFerrin on the charge of aggravated child abuse. They are scheduled to make their initial appearance in Cannon County General Sessions Court on April 12.

Is is sooo sad.... what mother could do this to her child...& let a man partake in the actions also.....I pray the little boy will be okay.....I dont know him but I love him & GOD loves him too!!!!!
