The National Weather Services has issued a tornado watch for Cannon and surrounding counties until 8 p.m. today.

There is slight risk of severe thunderstorms across middle Tennessee today.
The main threat will be damaging winds, but isolated tornadoes will be possible.
A strong cold front will move through the mid state late this afternoon. In advance of this feature thunderstorms are expected to develop. Some of these thunderstorms may be severe, with the
main threat being damaging winds, but there will also be the potential for isolated tornadoes.
The most favorable time for the severe weather will be from late morning and through this
afternoon. The severe weather could last until early evening across the Cumberland Plateau region.
