UCHRA recertification
Began Jan. 2
The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency would like to remind those who receive assistance through the Temporary Emergency Food Assis-tance Program, known as Commodities; it is time for recertification of their commodities card. With 2013 deliveries right around the corner, it is very important for recipients to recertify their commodity card with their local county offices prior to the first pick-up date.
Recertification date began Jan. 2.
If you think you or someone you know qualifies for this program, please contact the UCHRA office in your county for more information.

Cannon County residents are urged to bring any original Civil War items to Adams Memorial Library from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The items will be either scanned for photographed for inclusion in a statewide exhibit by the Tennessee State Library.

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at 2:30 in the afternoon, a fledging group of home school parents and children will gather in the downstairs meeting room of the Adams Memorial Library. This is the first meeting for this group and it's going to be very informal. Come as you are. Bring food, drink, children, but no pets. Or leave food, drink and children at home with the pets.

Cannon Arts Dance Studio Recital
The Cannon Arts Dance Studio will hold a recital in the form of a USO show paying tribute to the WWII era on Saturday, January 25 at the Arts Center. 1st Annual Rook Tournament
Sunday, Jan. 25
The Cannon County Rescue Squad will be hosting their first annual Rook Tournament, fundraiser and silent auction on Saturday, January 25 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Woodbury Lion’s Club building. Cost is $10.00 per person.
Refreshments and finger foods will be provided. Players are asked to bring a dessert.
180 points per hand and single elimination.

Clear Fork United Meth-odist Church, Big Hill Road in Gassaway will hold a church supper from 3 to 7 p.m. featuring catfish or chicken tenders, choice of pinto, white or green beans, hush puppies, cabbage slaw or veggie salad, french fries, dessert and drink.

Silversneaker Class
In Janurary
The Senior Center will offer the Silversneaker Classic Class on Tuesday nights at 6 p.m. The exercise room will also be open from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This is to provide an exercise option for our many “60+” people in the community who are still working. The class is also available for members who can’t attend some days due to other commitments. Please help us spread the word about this new concept at the Senior Center and help make it a success.
