Katie Hoskins

The Class of 1970 is happy to announce that Katie Hoskins is the 2016 recipient of the Class of 1970/Larry Trail Memorial Scholarship. 2016 is the tenth year that the Class of 1970 has awarded the scholarship in memory of Larry Trail.

Katie is the daughter of Bo and Pamela Hoskins of 193 Valley Drive, Woodbury, Tennessee.

While at CCHS, Katie was student council president as well as being a member FCCLA, HOSA and the Beta Club. She competed in the 2015 Miss Tennessee Teen USA pageant in Clarksville, Tennessee. Her favorite subject in high school was Anatomy/ Physiology. Outside of school activities, she volunteers at blood drives.

Katie has been accepted to Tennessee Tech University where she has been admitted to the Whitson Hester School of Nursing majoring in nursing. Her goal after completing her degree in nursing is to become a trauma nurse. Katie stated in her scholarship requirement essay that her passion is health care. Her desire is to give back to the Cannon County community because living in this community, has taught her passion, sincerity and a good work ethic that will benefit her throughout her life.

Katie said, after receiving the call that she had won the scholarship, "It is a true blessing to have received the Class of 1970/Larry Trail Memorial Scholarship. It will go a long way in helping me achieve my dream of becoming a trauma nurse. Thank you so much!"

The Class of 1970 - Larry Trail Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving high school senior who plans to pursue a college degree. The student must be graduating from Cannon County High School and have received an acceptance letter by an accredited college or university that is required with the application. The candidate must submit an application and test results from ACT and/or SAT. The application must be accompanied by a 300-500 word essay which explains why he or she deserves to receive this scholarship and how winning it could benefit the Cannon county community. Additionally, a complete high school transcript must be submitted.

The Woodbury High School Class of 1970 established the scholarship fund in memory of class member Larry Trail who passed away August 21. 2006. Members of the class of 1970 contribute to the fund each year.

Because Larry's work in the community was so well known and appreciated, the fund is open to contributions from anyone who desires to contribute. All checks should be sent to CCHS, One Lion Drive, Woodbury, Tennessee 37190. Each check should have the designation - Class of 1970 Larry Trail Scholarship Fund.
