Joseph Matthew Taylor, 108 S. Dillon St., Woodbury, was charged with DUI and Violation Of The Implied Consent Law on March 18.

Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Parsley responded to the Mooretown area on that date in reference to a possible drunk driver. The vehicle was described as a grey Dodge Magnum.

Deputy Parsley spotted a vehicle matching that description turn from Hollow Springs Rd. onto Simpson Rd. Upon making contact with the vehicle it turned into a driveway on Simpson Rd.

A male driver, subsequently identified as Taylor, exited. Taylor said he was just trying to get home. Deputy Parsley advised Taylor as to why he was stopped and asked him to perform field sobriety tests. Taylor refused, stating he was going to fail them. Taylor also refused to submit to a blood alcohol content test.

Deputy Parsley noted a strong odor of an intoxicant coming from Taylor, who admitted to drinking a 12 pack of beer. The deputy also observed a case of beer in the passenger floorboard of the vehicle containing five beers.

Taylor was arrested and transported to the Cannon County Jail. Bond was set at $1,800. Initial court date is May 1.
