READYVILLE — The Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the faculty of West Side Elementary School become one of the best prepared schools in Cannon County.  On Tuesday the 27th of July the Red Cross will  train at no expense to the Cannon County School System twenty faculty members in CPR, First Aid and Defibrillator use.

"The safety of our students in paramount to the success of our school. The majority of our faculty members will be trained. By having as many staff members trained as we can, I feel we are minimizing the chances that an incident could occur where a student's health is jeopardized due the response time of our first responders," said Robert Sain, Principal of West Side Elementary School.  The Heart of Tennessee Chapter trained over 12,000 people  over the past year in CPR, First Aid, AED and Aquatics Safety.

“We are glad to reinvest funds raised in Cannon County to enhance the preparedness of the community.  Our chapter is here to help prepare our communities to effectively prepare for and respond to all types of disasters.  We have numerous volunteer opportunities in Cannon County to help us fulfill this mission ranging from serving on a Disaster Action Team to becoming a volunteer trainer, said Greg King, CEO of the Heart of Tennessee Chapter.
