Woodbury Police Plan Safety And Sobriety Checkpoints
The Woodbury Police Dept. will be conducting safety and sobriety checkpoints on Friday September 4, 2009 on Hwy. 70, and Hwy. 53, and Adams St. These checkpoints will be done in conjunction with the Governor’s Highway Safety Office and the current Booze it Loose it Campaign.
We want to insure that the roadways are safe and free of impaired drivers on this holiday weekend. Officers will be paid with funds received through the Governor's Highways Safety Office.
• The Police Dept. will also be hosting a Child Safety Seat Checkpoint on Saturday September 12, at the former Jennings Motors car lot on West Main St. from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Those with children may come and get their child seat checked for proper installation, expiration, and make sure it is not on a recall list.
We encourage everyone to bring their child and the seat in order that they may be properly informed of how it needs to be installed and the child safely secured. The department now has five technicians who have received 32 hours of training in this area. Our goal is for our children to be safe on the roadways. 95% of these seats are improperly installed and used.
