The Hilton Stone American Legion Post 279 is proud and honored to be the Corporate Sponsoring Organization for the newly formed Boy Scout Troop 1180 in Cannon County.

Commander of the American Legion Post 279, David J. Faulkner, appointed Legionnaire James E. Stone as the Corporate Organization Representative. Woodbury's Cub Scout Pack has grown which makes possible the creation of Boy Scout Troop 1180. The Troop enjoys
going camping, hiking, and learning Scout skills. They enjoy having fun while learning, but they also value giving back to our community through service projects .

Recent projects include cleaning the ball fields in Woodbury and the Greenway cleanup in Murfreesboro. They have fun at both day and resident camps. One of their favorite locations is the Stones River Battlefield. It is a great place to hike and learn about history.

The troop meets on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Fridays of each month, at the First United Methodist Church in Woodbury at 7:30 p.m. If you are interested in Scouting, stop by and see what Scouting can do for you.

The Scout Master of Troop 1180 is Josh Rinehart. I have seen Scout Master Rinehart in action, and he is the type Scout Master that should be emulated by all Scout Masters. Said another way, "Josh is a "Cracker Jack" Scout Master, and the kind of man I would want leading and training my son in the Boy Scouts.

SCOUT OATH
SCOUT LAW

to do my duty to God and my country helpful, friendly, courteous, kind,
and to obey the Scout Law obedient, cheerful, thrifty,
brave,

to keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

I served on the Military Academy Selection Board for 12 years. We selected candidates for all of the Service Academies. (ARMY, NAVY, MARINE CORPS, AIR FORCE, AND COAST GUARD) During this time I witnessed young boys and girls competing for the coveted, all expense four year, college education with all expenses, room and board paid for. This education package is valued at more than $450.000. The young boys and girls competing, are the tops in their field, their academics, and sports. In a lot of cases, the students are so close in their overall standing, that the deciding factor was that they had attained the rank of "Eagle Scout" or that they had attended "Boys or Girls State."

Just look at the resume's of our top executives, top military leaders, top government leaders, and top educators and you will see that most of them attained the rank of "Eagle Scout" or attended "Boys or Girls State." Boy Scouting is a spring board to a bigger, brighter, and better future for you as the "Leaders of Tomorrow" for this great Nation.
