Diners enjoy the food during the FOP's annual Pancake Breakfast
The Fraternal Order of Police, Cannon Lodge #88 held its annual Pancake Breakfast at the High School Cafeteria Saturday the 23rd. The event was a big success, and the weather couldn't have been better. There was sunshine all around with a good temperature and the people came out in force for a good breakfast.

The FOP Explorers were on hand to wait on the diners who were seated then brought their pancakes, sausages and juice or coffee. Lodge #88 sponsors the Explorers who are recruited at the high school level. Most of the Explorers have a goal of ultimately becoming police officers or are interested in the judicial aspect of training.

This annual event is a fundraiser for the organization along with the main staple of sponsoring a carnival/fair later in the year. The FOP is the largest organization of Police Officers in the world with 2100 lodges across the U.S. with 325,000 members.

Locally Lodge #88 has helped every Christmas with the Woodbury Neighborhood Watch in supplying food for the needy and has come to the aid of police officers and their family members when there is a need. This would be in the event of a disaster in the family or medical or financial help.

To become an active member of the FOP you have to be an actively employed law enforcement officer. To become an associate member you can join if presented by an active member. The body of the Lodge will vote on the membership of anyone who wants to join. The fact it is a police organization means a candidate must not have any criminal history.
