Ring in the happiest time of the year with the lighting of the official Rutherford County Christmas Tree on Friday, December 2.

Murfreesboro's Historic Downtown Square will be filled with sounds of the season and the anticipation of the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. The celebration begins at 6 p.m.

Bree Smith, Storm 5 Meteorologist, News Channel 5, will emcee the festivities. Brittney Spencer, with MTSU's Generation of Purpose Gospel Choir, along with Cason Lane Academy Choir, Central Magnet School Choir, and Campus School Choir will perform some of our favorite Christmas songs.

Jimmie Lou Tate's Dancer's School will feature some of their ballet and tap dancers. The Murfreesboro Center for the Arts will present a preview of the musical The Christmas Schooner.

After arriving, Mr. and Mrs. Claus will flip the switch, lighting the official Rutherford County Christmas Tree. They will then proceed to the Courthouse to be available for photographs and listen to the Christmas wishes of the children.

A beautiful Christmas tree, holiday music and performances, meeting Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, shopping at many of the downtown businesses, and enjoying the beautiful window displays, all great reasons for visiting Murfreesboro's Historic Downtown Square on Friday, December 2.
