Mance Jay Davis, Sr., 84, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Ascension St. Thomas - McMinnville. He was born in Warren Co., the son of the late Robert and Lillie Beatrice McDowell Davis.

He is survived by his children, Michael Glenn (Alyssa) Pendergrast of Readyville, Penny (Jimmy) Nichols of Woodbury, Mancia Davis Walker of Indianapolis, IN., Daniel Dean Davis Quitman, TX, Vickie (Bobby) Hester of McKinney, TX. and Mance Jr. (Beth) Davis of Woodbury; grandchildren, Michael Pendergrast, Jimmy Jr. (Jennifer) Nichols, Ashley (Ben) Cantrell, Bethany Lewis, Estar Hester, Aidan Davis, Cadee Davis and Annie Davis; great grandchildren, Mason, Sophia and Maggie Nichols, Cohen and Addy; siblings, Delma Frame, Wilma Crocker, Mary Jane Davis, Sherry Shipp, Marie Johnson, Linda Lokey, Rosa Estes and Billy Ray Davis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Colene Layhew Davis and siblings, Patricia Pendergrast, Theresa Gibson, Robert Eugene Davis, Irene Davis and Lorene Davis.

A member of First Baptist church of Woodbury, Mr. Davis was retired from the United States Air Force where he was Sr. Master Sergeant. After his military career, he worked at Paramount Packaging where he also retired. Mr. Davis enjoyed fishing, working in his garden, science fiction, helping his wife Hazel quilt and reading. He was known for his love tinkering with anything electrical. Mance never met anyone who needed help that he didn't help. Above all of this, the love he had for his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren is what meant the most to him.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Thursday, July 28, 2022 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Dean Anderson officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Jernigan Cemetery.

Visitation with his family will be Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 4 pm until 8 pm.
