Man Receives Year In County Jail For Attempted Statutory Rape

Judge Susan Melton presided over Cannon County General Sessions Court on Tuesday.  Some of the results from the various cases which appeared on the docket included:

• Jesse J. Harris pled guilty to the charge of criminal attempt to commit the offense of statutory rape.  He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail and ordered to serve his entire sentence.
 
• Johnny Edward Lyons, Jr. was bound over to the September, 2010 term of the Cannon County Grand Jury.  He is charged with possession of schedule 2 drugs and unlawful possession of a weapon.
 
• Jeffery L. Thomas was bound over to the September, 2010 term of the Cannon County Grand Jury.  He is charged with arson.
 
• Katherine E. Pendergrass entered a conditional plea of guilty to the charge of theft under $500.00.  She was placed on probation for 11 months, 29 days.  In addition, she was ordered to pay the court costs and restitution.
 
• Anthony C. Brown pled guilty to the charge of driving on a suspended license 2nd offense.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying a $50.00 fine and paying the court costs.  In addition, his license was revoked for 1 year.
 
• Ronnie Ray Vickers pled guilty to the charge of domestic assault.  He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was partially suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, serving 30 days in jail and paying the court costs.
 
• William Eisenmann pled guilty to the charge of violation of probation.  His probation was extended and he was ordered to serve 60 days in jail.
 
• Amy Tribble pled guilty to the charge of driving under the influence.  She was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was partially suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, serving 48 hours in jail, paying the court costs and paying a $350.00 fine.  She also lost her driver's license for 1 year.
 
• Johnny Keith Neal pled guilty to the charge of domestic assault.  He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was partially suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, serving 30 days in jail and paying the court costs.

So Harris received the same sentence for his crime as Randy Durham did last week for taking a human life.

When I say same sentence, I mean the same jail time. Durham was also sentenced to additional probation.

Durham got one more day in jail than the person charged with theft under $500.
