COOKEVILLE — The third time was not the charm for the Cannon County girls here Monday night.
Playing for the District 8-AAA championship, the Lionettes lost to the Upperman Lady Bees 55-32.
It was the third time this season the Cannon County girls (24-4) tasted defeat at the hands of Upperman.
Cannon County kept the game close for a half, trailing 12-9 at the end of the opening period and 19-14 at intermission. The Lady Bees widened the margin to 39-23 at the end of the third and could not muster a rally in the fourth.
SCORING: Emily Sissom 12 points; Ashley Campbell 10; Chelsey Payne 4 points, 14 rebounds; Taylor King 4; Erica Melton 2.

Despite the setback the Lionettes move on to the region tournament, and will play Bledsoe County in the first round Friday.
Friday's game will be played at Robert A. Harris Gymnasium. The time will be announced later.
The Cannon County boys will play Saturday in the region. The opponent, time and place will be announced later.
