King Sentencing Delayed Until October

Sentencing for former Cannon County REACH Director Angela King was put off until Oct. 4 in Cannon County Circuit Court Thursday.

Please pled guilty to stealing money from the program last spring.

The delay was created because the county’s insurance company has not as yet been able to provide a final figure as to how much of the stolen funds it will reimburse the county.

King entered guilty pleas in April to one count of Theft Over $10,000 and one count of Theft Over $1,000.

The Theft Over $10,000 charge stems from an investigation the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conducted in association with the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office of the REACH program. The Theft Over $1,000 charge stemmed from a separate case brought by the Woodbury Police Department unrelated to the REACH Program.

In other cases heard Thursday by Judge Don Ash:

• Gina McCutcheon, charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, was granted a motion to be declared as indigent. Her next court date is Oct. 4.

• Gary Eubanks pled guilty to Aggravated Burglary. He waived application for a suspended sentence and Judge Ash ordered him to serve 3 years, in the Cannon County Jail.

• Elijah Murphy pled guilty to Violation of Probation. He was ordered to serve 60 days in the Cannon County Jail. His state supervised probation was reinstated for the original period of 7 years. Murphy also agreed to serve the entire sentence and waive application for a suspended sentence if he violates probation again.

• Jonathan Johnson pled guilty to Violation of Probation. He was ordered to serve 30 days in the Cannon County Jail. His state supervised probation was reinstated for the original period of 3 years. He was also ordered to attend a drug treatment program for 1 year at his own expense. Johnson agreed to serve the entire sentence and waive application for a suspended sentence if he violates probation again.

• Aubrey Sanders was granted his request for a furlough from the sentence he is serving at the Cannon County Jail to attend Buffalo Valley Rehabilitation Center. He will return to serve his sentence after the treatment program is completed.
