Jewelry designed by an artist for celebrities Eva Longoria, Madonna and Beyonce will be displayed during a preview party and fund-raiser for the Child Advocacy Center from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2 at Penny’s Closet.

The contemporary jewelry by Claudia Lobao will be on display during the party at Penny’s Closet at 1602 W. Northfield Blvd. Suite 100 in Murfreesboro , said owner Penny Bolton. To gain access to the party, viewers must adopt one minimum duck for $5 for the upcoming Child Advocacy Center ’s duck derby June 11 at the Sportsman’s Club on Medical Center Parkway .

Some 10,000 ducks will glide down the river. The person who adopted the first duck to cross the finish line will win a $5,000 grand prize. All race proceeds go to the Child Advocacy Center , whose staff has helped 6,000 children who suffered child abuse in Rutherford and Cannon counties during the past 10 years.

Bolton decided to sponsor the duck adoptions for the preview party to help fight child abuse.

“Thoughts of these helpless children break my heart and at the same time fuel my passion to try to do whatever I can to help protect these innocent children,” Bolton said. “I couldn’t imagine looking into a child’s eye who was a victim of child abuse, especially sexual abuse, and not doing something to help that child and others like them.”

People who want to support the Child Advocacy Center may also adopt ducks at Penny’s Closet before the June 11 race.

“We’ll get behind this and do what we can,” Bolton said. “This is a good event and I urge people to adopt a bunch of ducks.”

People who attend the preview party may register to win a beautiful piece of Claudia Lobao jewelry. Bolton invited people to bring their friends to view the jewelry and to support the Child Advocacy Center .

Queen of the Quackers Kristin Demos, who is coordinating the Duck Derby, said the top 14 winners will receive prize packages ranging from a week at Orange Beach , Ala. , to a Gatlinburg Getaway.
