Friday marked a new term of Cannon County Circuit Court. As part of the beginning of the term, the Grand Jury met to consider the many cases bound over from General Sessions Court. Those persons indicted by the Grand Jury during Friday’s session included:

James Lee Pendergrass for driving while license suspended, violation of the open container law, speeding and financial responsibility violation;

Steven Hollis for burglary, theft, two counts of vandalism, criminal impersonation and possession of burglary tools;

Ethan Cord Taylor for two counts of theft, coercion of a witness, two counts of aggravated burglary and criminal trespassing;

Benjamin Yuk Lin Liau for introduction of contraband into a penal institution and failure to appear;

Samuel Fabozzi for six counts of aggravated assault;

Brian Alan Stafford for three counts of theft;

Michael Wayne Ragan for four counts of theft;

John Edward Cummings for one count of theft;

Vanessa McCormick for habitual motor vehicle offender, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration of over .20, driving under the influence, driving while license revoked and violation of insurance law;

Melissa Archey for theft;

and Vickie Marsh for driving under the influence, violation of implied consent law, driving without a license and violation of insurance law;

In addition to the defendants listed above, the Grand Jury also returned three sealed indictments. The names of those defendants will not be released until they have been arrested.

The Cannon Courier must stress that an indictment by the Grand Jury is not a finding of guilt. It simply means that the Grand Jury felt there was enough evidence to set the case for a jury trial.
