Connie Rigsby, Cannon County Senior Center director and co-organizer of the Good Ole Days of Cannon County, issued the following statement on plans for this year's festival Wednesday.

"Even though we did get permission to have events at Spurlock Park at a council meeting, the City Mayor has told Good Ole Days planners that the event cannot be held there, so back up plan C goes into action at the County Fairgrounds.

As a positive to those attending, ample parking, ample night lighting, electricity and added, plus increased, vendor space at no extra charge.

As a coordinator for events it has been very trying this year. In the backup planning we knew the community would not like any of the choices except the Square.

So here we are — Plan A: the square is not going to be done, plan B: Spurlock Park rejected, so we move on to Plan C: the Cannon County Fairgrounds.

We hope folks will not think of this as we can't make up our minds but that obstacles keep coming up about every possible site, no site give us the picturesque back drop of the square and coming up with designs for all possible sites has given planners positives and negatives.

One tragic mess from the square not being done is the cancellation of the "Blast from the Past" parade.

As planners of Good Ole Days we are just as unhappy as anyone that we cannot have it on the Square but when the Lord gives you lemons make lemonade.

I hope everyone will support the move. Remember early bird deadlines for Pageants will be April 16th, cost for pageants go up after that date."

Good Ole Days will take place at the fairgrounds May 14-15.
