Golfers run ends in district

Cannon County's strong golf season came to an end in the District 8-A/AA Tournament in Cookeville Monday (Sept. 8).

The Lions shot a team-total 385 and finished sixth in the 13-team field. Macon County won the tourney with a 316, followed by Central Magnet with a 326 and Goodpasture was third with 346.

York (374) and DeKalb (377) finished just ahead of Cannon County.

Hunter Vickers and Briar Jakes just missed the chance to advance into the Region 4-A/AA Tourney.

Vickers and Jakes each shot a 91 to lead Cannon County. They were three shots shy of advancing as the cut to make the region was 88. Jakes was looking for a return trip after advancing last season.

Jacob Nave finished with a 100 for the Lions, followed by William Parker (102) and Josh Ruehlen (103.).
