Four People Charged With Assault

Assault charges were levied against four people recently in separate incidents:

• Michael Ryan Barrett, 205 E. High St., Woodbury, was charged with Domestic Assault on Aug. 11 by Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve McMillen. Barrett allegedly pushed the purported victim against a wall four to five times after becoming involved in an argument over a small child that was inside a residence on Blue Hill Rd. Bond was set at $1,000. Initial court date is Sept. 11.

• Matthew Allen Baker, 4203 Stones River Rd., Woodbury, was charged with Domestic Assault on Aug. 14 by Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Jordan McGee. Bond was set at $2,500. Initial court date is Oct. 2.

• Tommy Merriman, 303 Hayes St., Woodbury, was arrested on a warrant charging him with Assault on Aug. 3. The purported victim claims that Merriman told him he would “go home and get his piece and take care” of him. This alleged statement reportedly occurred over the phone. The parties were arguing over their dogs. Bond was set at $1,000. Initial court date is Sept.18.

• Billy J. Sweeney, 929B South McCrary St., Woodbury, was served three arrest warrants on Aug. 12 charging him with Domestic Assault, Harassment and Theft Over $1,000. The purported victim alleges that on Jan. 7 of this year Sweeney said he would “take care of her and then himself.” Sweeney reportedly stole a handgun in Rutherford County after making the threats. He also allegedly took a 2003 Ford Taurus SE and an LG9006 cell from the victim, valued at $5,500 and $100, respectively. Total bond was $6,000. Initial court date is Sept. 11.
