The Cannon County High School Athletic Council (CCHSAC) will kick off the season in style with a Fall Football BBQ Bash on the Square in Woodbury.
“This is about putting on an event, having great enthusiasm and developing momentum for all of the players,” said Bill Parsley, CCHSAC chairman. “We just want to create a general enthusiasm for football as we get the season going. The atmosphere is building and support around football is growing.”
Players from the football teams will be introduced at the BBQ Bash, along with the coaches and cheerleaders. The CCHS Band will provide tonight’s entertainment.
Tickets for the BBQ Bash are $10.
Barbecue will be provided by Red Barn BBQ and the meal includes barbecue, beans, slaw and buns. Owners of Red Barn will be on location cooking the barbecue.
Cannon County is coming off one of its most remarkable seasons in more than a decade after winning District 8-AA and earning its first playoff berth since 1995 in the process. Additionally, the Pee Wee youth football program has a record number of players this year.
”There is a great deal of excitement and that atmosphere is building and support around football is growing,” Parsley said. “The high school football team went to the playoffs last year and we want to build on that but the idea of the Barbecue Bash is to have people out, enjoy the evening and meet the young men, coaches, cheerleaders, band, all the people that make football season so special for all of us.”
