With just a little over a month to go before early voting begins, and less than two months before the County General Election, the Cannon County Election Commission had a long list of matters to go over when it held its regular monthly meeting Monday night.

Having set July 16 through July 31 as the dates for early voting at its meeting last month, the Election Commission established times for voting on those days Monday. Times will be from 9 a.m. to noon on a majority of the 14 early voting days, and 2 to 6 p.m. on two dates. An official list of dates and times will be announced soon.

Other items addressed by the commission Monday included:

• The approval of nine voting precincts and seven polling locations for the county: 1 - West Side (West Side School), 2- Auburntown (Auburntown Community Center), 3 - Gassaway (Gassaway Fire Hall), 4 - Pleasant Ridge (Woodbury Grammar School), 5 - Short Mountain (Short Mountain Elementary School), 6 - Woodland (Woodland Elementary School), 7 - East Side (East Side Elementary School), 8 - Short Mountain (Short Mountain Elementary School) and 9 - Woodbury (Woodbury Grammar School).

Early voting will take place at the Cannon County Election Office on West Main St.

• Heard from Administrator of Elections Stanley Dobson that the office's budget for fiscal year 2010-2011 has been set by the Budget Committee of the Cannon County Commission at $155,574. The full commission will vote on the budget at its next quarterly meeting, scheduled for July 17.

Dobson said that as of May 31 the election office had $37,827.53 remaining in its 2009-2010 budget, representing approximately 72 percent of usage. He said he expect to have around $15,000 unspent when the current fiscal year ends June 30.

• Voted to appoint commissioners Sue Patrick and Louise Mayo to conduct Voter Registration Inspections. The state election commission is now requiring that each voter registration form be inspected for accuracy and completeness of information, Dobson said.

• Postponed the purchase of ePollbook voter check-in computers for consideration at a future meeting.

• Reviewed a list of election workers presented by Dobson. He said worker training would take place in early July.

• Discussed a dress code for election workers, and determined "business attire" would be appropriate.

• Heard from Dobson that three felons had had their voting rights restored after completing the necessary process, and that 1341 had been purged from the election rolls.

• Voted to approve the purchase of metal handicap parking signs for use at polling places.
