Asked about the job the state Legislature is doing, Tennesseans are almost evenly divided into three groups that approve (39 percent), disapprove (30 percent), and don’t know whether they approve or disapprove or refuse to answer the question (32 percent), the most recent MTSU Poll indicates.
Likely voters are similarly ambivalent, with 40 percent saying they approve, 32 percent saying they disapprove, and 28 percent saying they don’t know or refusing to answer the question.
A majority of Tennessee’s Democrats disapprove (54 percent), while a majority of the state’s Republicans (55 percent) approve of the Republican-dominated Legislature. A plurality of independents, 38 percent, approve, while 28 percent disapprove, and 34 percent don’t know or refuse to answer.
