Cannon Schools Urging Students To Make Healthy Food Choices

Students at Auburn School take newly-posted nutritional information into consideration as they select their lunches for the day.
Oct. 12th – 16th is recognized as National School Lunch Week. School nutrition programs across the nation are boosting their efforts to encourage students to enjoy healthy school lunches during this year’s National School Lunch Week.

During the 2008-2009 school year, Coordinated School Health Division of Cannon County Schools, the Department of Food Service, TNCEP, the Cannon County Health Department and MTSU student nurses initiated a nutritional label program at Cannon County Elementary Schools.

This initiative taught student how to read a nutritional label and provided labels for food items serviced at Cannon County elementary schools.

The nutrition staff at Auburn School works hard to promote this program by posting their labels daily and by regularly urging students to make healthy food choices.
