Billy Ray Thomas, 77, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at his home in Woodbury following an extended illness.

A native of Cannon County, Mr. Thomas was a retired factory worker and farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Woodbury Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home Thursday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. with Bro. William Arnold and Bro. Joey Ferrell.

Burial will be in Riverside Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Womack, Lowell Womack, J.D. Melton, David Thomas, Randy Thomas, Mark Melton and J.M. Ferrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Claudie and Nettie Bly Thomas.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Weaver Melton Thomas of Woodbury; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Dena Thomas of Woodbury; grandchildren, Cierra and Chloe Thomas of Woodbury; sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Frank Parcell of Woodbury.

Uncle Billy was a great example of a loving Christian friend, father, brother, grandfather, husband, and person.

He will truly be missed.

James & Freda, We will miss seeing Billy when we come back to Gassaways' ham breakfast. He was always friendly and also a very humble man.
