Auditions set for Sweeney Todd

Auditions for the October show, “Sweeney Todd,” are set for 6:30 p.m. July 16 and 17 at The Arts Center of Cannon County.

This Tony award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim tells the story of barber Sweeney Todd’s savage quest for justice and retribution after years of false imprisonment. Aided by harridan pie shop owner Mrs. Lovett, who is secretly in love with him, he sets out to avenge the wrongs done to him and his family.

All those auditioning should bring a prepared piece for a provided accompanist or you may sing a cappella, no CDs please. It should consist of a maximum 2 minutes (from the show or in the style of the show). There are roles available for women and men ages 18 and up and one boy able to play age 14 and up. Auditions will include cold readings from the script. Performance dates are Oct. 18-27.
