Joyce Dutton has returned home. She spent 3 weeks in France visiting her daughter and family.

Allison and Waylon Francis spent Wednesday night in Murfreesboro with aunt Megan Davis. Thursday was spent swimming at the 'Boro Beach.

Sunday it was off to Nashville Fairgrounds for them Kim and Londyn and Brooklyn Francis where they explored the world of dinosaurs at the Jurassic Quest exhibit held at the Nashville Fairgrounds.

Thursday night was a surprise 50th birthday party for Anita Patrick. At least it was supposed to be a surprise but Ray has a hard time with surprises! She received many "useful" gifts for the next half-century!

Sunday was August birthday celebrations at our house. One, of course, was Anita's whose dessert was a Kit-Kat Pie. Sam Morrison's is the 14th and he went wild with his dessert which was homemade vanilla ice cream and chocolate chip cookies!

Saturday, John B Neely took in the Rutherford County Agricultural Extension Chicken show and came away with blue ribbons. He was grand campion in the skillathon and record book and was also named 2016 Premier Exhibitor. Congratulations JB!

The 39th Red Apple Days has come to an end and we give a huge thanks to the fire department volunteers for the hard work they put into this year's event. There were several of them who were cooled off when they were dunked in the dunking booth. Although there were many events that took place, the biggest was the "Miss Red Apple Days".

Winning the Little Miss Division was Heaven Grace Farris. 2016 Preteen Miss is Jada Bobo. Isabella Russo took the teen division with Sarah Kinnard getting the crown for the Miss Division.

Miss Auburntown Volunteer Fire Department Spokesmodel was Ashton Gilley. Jessica Shave was selected as Miss Volunteer. Miss Academic Achievement went to Jesse Tucker-Vaugh. Madelynne Bogle and Camri Layne Johnson were Miss Photogenic.

Congratulations to all the winners and they enjoyed riding in the parade.

A dog show also took place but I know of only one results and that was Bella shown by owner, David Tate. Bella won the Biggest Dog division and was selected as the Best Overall Dog. Congratulations to Bella!!

Congratulations to Glen Nave who won the Smith and Wesson 9mm from the Gassaway Volunteer Fire Department.

Several showed off their beautiful vehicles at the Classic Car Cruise-in. Well maybe there was one eye sore in the bunch but it was old and still going strong!

Lots of cute dogs turned out for the dog show.

The Lion's Club had their annual fun run and 5K with many entries. Sorry I don't have the winners.

Auburn Grammar opened up the school year Tuesday night with their "Back to School Bash" where parents are invited to meet with the teachers and see the classrooms.

Glad to hear Jody Tuck is home and doing well. He spent several days in the hospital.

Our sympathy to the family of Jimmy Barrett who passed away following a lengthy illness.

It's a birthday for Karen Stinnett who enters her 6th decade on the 17th. That's the same day Louise Hale, Bonnie Hagar, and Tina Cooper celebrate. Aaron Vantrease turns 37 on the 19th. April Melton and Chastity Gilley have birthdays the 20th which finishes that list. Happy birthday!

Happy 56 years of wedded bliss to my brother, Richard and Barbara Harris who celebrate the 19th. Larry and Dianne McAllister celebrate theirs on the 20th. John and Betty were wed 46 years ago on the 22nd. Ricky and Betty Jane Barrett end our anniversary list on the 23rd. Happy anniversary.
