School is back in session and it's time to get back to normal activities.
Saturday the 19th, the children, grandchildren and all the "out-laws" of Carl and Lois Mingle gathered in the Recreation Center at Auburn Baptist. There were 40 plus or minus of these "kissin' kin" who gathered in for some good food and catching up.
Saturday, the 26th the combined Hughes Christmas and Clyde and Anna Belle Bogle Hughes family reunion was held in the Auburn Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Hosting the event was their oldest daughter, Inette Hughes Gunter. Having the event here was special to her as she shared memories of how she, her late sister, JoAnn Hughes Nichols and late husband, William Gunter, came to know Christ. All were baptized in Hurricane Creek. JoAnn, who loved Christmas and family, passed away in February of this year and William had passed in June of 2013 so this reunion was extra special to the family.
Lots of good food, pictures and memories were shared among those in attendance which included Inette, Lindsay, Dona, Savannah and Caroline Gunter, Michael McClure, Tyler Bailey, WR Nichols, Julie Fitts, JB and Ardana Hughes, J.C and Joan Hughes, Cody and Kayla Hughes, Jason and Jennifer Brown, Carly and Ben, Sam and Cindy Garrison, Kirsten and Dixie and a surprise visit by cousin, Mary Hughes.
John Goad, formerly of Auburntown, was Saturday the 26th guest of Eddie and Donna Nichols. He brought them his annual New Year's gift of hot deep fried turkey.
Eddie's brother, Danny Nichols and wife, Claudia, of Pulaski and sister, Judy Van Hook and husband, Paul spent Monday with them. They shared a noon meal together.
Magaline Davenport enjoyed Christmas Eve with David and Brenda Dodd, John and Britany Dodd, Leighanne, Caitlin and JonMathew, Marshall Smithson, Bridgette Dodd, Keely Brandon, Keith, Tyler and Dustin Barnes, Darlene Gilliam, Ricky King, Derrick and Beth Cooper, Jonah and Olivia, Leslie Devers, Landen and Courtney, Stephen and Regina Mayo, Dale and Rilley, David and Pam Gaither Samantha and Madison and Austin Duggin.
Christmas morning it was breakfast at David and Brenda's for John, Britany, Leighanne, Caitlin, JonMathew, Bridgette, Keely, Keith, Tyler and Dustin.
Keely left shortly after that to enjoy the Christmas holidays with her grandma, Kathy Brandon from New York.
P-pa and I left Sunday the 27th to spend a couple of days with Richard and Barbara Harris in Macon, GA.
It was a full "house" at Jimbo's on New Year's Eve. Most of the Jim Grady and Glennette King family enjoyed a good visit with each other and the "locals".
Sunday, January 3rd, Merrell McAllister began spending his eternal life celebrating with Jesus. Our thoughts and prayers for all of his loved ones - family and friends.
Belated wishes for last week are Amy Reed whose birthday was the 7th. Mike Jakes got another year on the 8th. It was the 11th for John Buyrl Neely on the 9th and Carly Brown wound up the birthdays on the 11th when she celebrated her 12th. Hope each of you had a great birthday.
Thirty-one years ago on the 7th John and Marna Higgins became Mr. and Mrs. The 8th Bob and "Pete" Whitaker celebrated their 61st year of pure happiness. Hope both couples had blessed anniversaries.
The 13th is a special day for Maibeth Thompson, Dustin Nichols, Ashley Gilley Wilson and Christina Davis. Tyler Hickey, Jack Campbell, Pearl Hale and Catie Adams have their special days. The 17th John Moore and Drew Zimmer get their cake and ice cream. Finishing up the week of birthday wishes on the 18th are Tim Reed, Allison Higgins and S. E. Hale. Happy birthday to each and all.
David and Joyce Fuller celebrate double nickels for their anniversary on the 14th. The 16th Jim and Donna Sherrell celebrate their 11th. Happy anniversary.
