A long time neighbor and friend of this community has passed away. Charles Tyler died Tuesday, May 13th, following a lengthy illness. He and wife, Frances, moved to Murfreesboro last fall after living on Marshall Creek for the past 37 years. His funeral was Saturday the 17th at Jennings and Ayers. Our prayers go up for Frances, the children and other loved ones.

Our prayers and get well quick wishes are for Brian Duggin who suffered a serious injury in a fall last week. He has undergone a couple of surgeries at Vanderbilt and at last report, has been moved to a room following a few days' stay in ICU.

Two beautiful little girls have made their entrance into this world. The first one was little Miss Gracie Lynne Smith who arrived May 8th weighing in at 8 lbs., 9 oz. with a length of 21-3/4". She is the daughter of Nick and Lori Jackson Smith. Lynne Jackson and Robert and Tammy Smith are the proud grandparents with the extra proud greats being Tom and Ladye Allen. Congratulations!

The other little beauty is Annalyn Elise Garrett who came in May 14th weighing 7 lbs., 12 oz. The length is not given. Tired but excited new parents are Ryan and Erica Melton Garrett. Grandparents are Jamie Motley and Mark and April Melton. Greats are Ronnie and Judy Todd. Congratulations to ya'll too!

Run Hannah run and that she did again. May 9th she competed in the 3200m sub-sectionals and came in first - now it's for the sectional. Way to go Hannah!

School is almost over and the students and teachers have been enjoying some field trips. It was off to see "Reluctant Dragon" for grades Kindergarten through 3rd. Mrs. Betty King said it was a very good play. One of the reasons could have been the performance by our own Hattie Fann.

Mrs. Sunshine Robbins' 4th graders enjoyed Farm Day festivities.

May 9th was the annual 8th grade trip this year to Dollywood. There were 16 which included chaperones who enjoyed the day.

Saturday the 10th was collage graduation day and it was Dustin Patrick's time to accept his Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication from Middle TN State. DeAnna Reed was among several on hand to see him walk across the stage.

That night many family and friends joined him and Ashley Campbell (who also graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree but hers was in Health Education & Lifetime Wellness) at Readyville Mill for a celebration party.

Mother's Day was a great day for many of our local mothers. Flonnie Fletcher enjoyed a visit from son, Robert, Jeff and Maryann.

Robbie Owen was treated by Jim and Donna Sherrell and Michelle James to a catfish luncheon at Twin Lakes Catfish Farm in Baxter. They visited with Jim's dad and brother while there.

Beverly and Jerry Bryan had a house full of young'uns and grandyoung'uns to help celebrate the special day.
Patrick Thomas of Cedar Grove with Cassie Miller of Shelbyville spent Mother's Day weekend with his mom, Betty and Terry Thomas. Joining them on that day were Stefanie Gaither and Madison and Samantha and Brad Leach.
Rita and Ernest Davis had a yard full to say "Happy Mother's Day" to her.

At our house we celebrated Mother's Day with a birthday. Adrianna Reed turned 12 on the 12th and her cake was an Oreo cheesecake.

Both Auburn and Prosperity Baptist Churches honored all mothers present during their services. Attendees at Prosperity were treated to 3 mothers who told of what it's like being mothers at different stages of life. First was Bethany Morrison from a young mother's perspective, Joanie Blackburn for those with teenagers and Shirley Allen finished up with her perspective as a grandmother.

It's a heavy birthday day on the 21st when Alan Hayes (who turns half century old), Haleigh Scott, Hannah McCrary, Lisa Reed (her 47th), Laura Kennedy (also 50) and Don Rigsby (his 67th) all celebrate. Paige Tenpenny and Chelsea Elizabeth Givens both turn 17 on the 23rd. Cory Turney celebrates the 24th with Joelene Bobo and Barbara Cantrell celebrating the next day. Marvin Davenport hits the !gasps! 80 year on the 26th the same day Thomas Holder and James Hastings add a year. Finishing up on the 27th is Kathryn Turney who is celebrating her day in her in New York. Happy birthday you all.
Happy anniversary to Ricky and Joan Marie Bryson on the 20th, to Shane and Tammy Swift on the 25th, and to Lindsay and Donna Gunter and Don and Angela Moore on the 28th.
