On Feb. 19, members of the Woodbury Church of Christ caught a male and female breaking into vehicles.

Upon receiving word of what had happened, Woodbury Police Officer Pat Fann and Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Gullett went to the church to arrest the suspects.

The female suspect pulled a knife on the church members and was able to escape prior to the officers arriving. Arrested at the scene was Dustin Mayo, who not only had in his possession goods stolen from the vehicles, but was also wanted on theft and burglary related warrants from a separate incident investigated by Deputy Gullett.

Officer Fann furthered his investigation of the church incident to learn the identity of the female suspect who escaped. On Feb. 22, Officer Fann’s investigation resulted in the issuance of a search warrant for a residence in Woodbury.

In executing this search warrant, officers were able to recover the knife and clothing worn by the female suspect, who was found to be Rachel Srour.

Also recovered were more stolen goods from the Feb. 19 incident. Srour was also arrested at the residence when the warrant was executed.

Mayo, of 536 Rogers St., Bradyville, was also charged on Feb. 17 with Aggravated Burglary and two counts of Theft Over $500 by Deputy Gullett. Mayo allegedly broke into two local residences and stole firearms, a Remington rifle and a Smith & Wesson pistol. His bond was set at $23,000 in that incident and initial court date was set for March 6.

Both suspects are still incarcerated in the Cannon County Jail. Other officers assisting in the investigations were Chief Tony Burnett, Officer John House, Officer John Fesmire, and Deputy Seth Perry.
