Fight Breaks Out In Middle Of School Zone

Apr 06, 2011 at 11:45 am by admin

Two Bradyville men were arrested recently after engaging in an altercation in the middle of a roadway.

Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Gullett was traveling eastbound on Old Murfreesboro Rd. on March 29 when he came upon two males fighting in the intersection of Bradyville Road and Old Murfreesboro Road.

Upon Deputy Gullett getting out of his car, the two males, Christopher Steven Reed, 55 Thurston Young Rd., Bradyville, and Michael Mason Butcher, 1283 Myrtle Road, separated.

Deputy Gullett placed both subjects into custody and placed Butcher into the rear of his patrol unit. He then placed Reed on the ground beside the vehicle.

Deputy Gullett was advised by Butcher the two men were fighting because about five weeks ago Reed had hit him with a vehicle and that he wanted his money out of him.

Deputy Gullett was advised by two witnesses that Butcher had observed Reed pass by Parsley’s Market and he then chased him down and once Reed stopped he got out of his vehicle and then they started fighting.

The incident occurred inside the school zone at West Side School during the time the warning lights were flashing, causing the roadway to be blocked and stopping traffic.

Both men were charged with disorderly conducted. Bond was set at $500 for each. Their initial court date is May 3.
