Rufus Taylor Smith, Jr., age 67 of Morristown, TN passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System. Rufus was born and grew up in Nashville, TN where he graduated from The Tennessee School for the Blind. He later moved to Morristown in 1981 to start a family with the love of his life. Rufus retired from Volunteer Blind in Morristown. His love of music spans all genres, and his eclectic taste was passed down to his children.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rufus Smith, Sr.; mother, Evelyn Smith and step-mother, Esther Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Teresa D. Smith; daughter, Bobbie Smith (Michael Love); son, John Smith; grandchildren, Ty Warren, Jude Smith, Jasper Smith, Xzavier Smith and Laila Love; brother, Steve Smith (Janet); sisters, Rene Kopp (Buddy) and Janette Dunnivant (Kenny); 2 nieces, Hailey and Jordan.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Mayes Mortuary from 5PM to 7PM with a funeral at 7PM.
The family will meet at Woodbury Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 1:30PM for a procession to Riverside Cemetery.
