To the People of the First District and Cannon County:

I want to begin by saying it has been an honor to represent you over the last 4 years on the County Commission.  It has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done and I have truly enjoyed every minute.

You may not have always agreed with me, but I can honestly say everything was done with thought and with the intent that it would make Cannon County a better place.  I care a lot about the people of Cannon County and the First District and always tried to provide them with the representation they deserve.  Cannon County is the best place on earth to live.  We care about each other and that’s what makes us special.

On a personal note, I want to say thank-you to my Co-Commissioner Mark Barker.  We may not have agreed on everything, but we never let that stop us from being friends.  Mark is a good Christian man who deeply cares about Cannon County.  I have had the honor of Mark’s friendship for many years and I can truly say he is one of the most honest and upstanding men I have ever known.  I am glad voters returned him to the Commission.  Cannon County is a better place because men like Mark Barker are in public service.

Also, I want to thank Commissioner Kevin George.  He is one of my closest friends in the world and it has been an honor to serve with him.  Kevin speaks from his heart and is never afraid to fight for what he believes in.  I wish I had half the courage he does.  I will miss working with him so much.

To County Executive Mike Gannon, thank-you for always being such a good friend.  Mike is an excellent County Executive and he cares a lot about Cannon County.

Thank-you to my fellow Commissioners Karen Ashford, Todd Hollandsworth, Greg Mitchell, Rebekah Parton, Joe Wimberly, Kevin Mooneyham, Brad Hall and Bob Stoetzel.  We got along well and I enjoyed serving with all of you.

Thank-you to Cannon County’s Officials, Bobby Smith, Lynne Foster, Donald Preston, Debbie Morris, Bill Bryson, Billy Nichols and James Maxwell.  You all do excellent jobs and I have enjoyed working with you.  I also want to thank my good friends and colleagues Harold Patrick and Hoppy Davenport who retired earlier this year.

Thank you to my family and friends, especially Courtney, Erin, Sue, Roger, Daniel, Matt, Barbara, Ellis, Ken, Michael, Taylor, Jennie, Lori, Stan, Shannon, Tim, Jared, Mark, Brenda, Helen P., Terry, Connie, Amy, Sandra, Charlene, Alan, Chuck, David, Gretchen, Helen D., Jonathan, Kathy, Jerry, Faye, Kevin H., Doug, Susan, MLF, Tina, Heather, Judy,  Catherine, Nathan, Carolyn, Eric, Sandy and those who would probably prefer not to be named, you know who you are.  You stood by me during this election and during my time on the Commission.  I appreciate you all more than you will ever know.

I would also like to congratulate my friend and your new commissioner Russell Reed.  I know he will do an excellent job and cares about the people of the First District.  Russell, just like Mark and I, ran a clean and honest campaign and I applaud him for that.  Good luck Russell!

Again, thank-you for the opportunity to serve you on the County Commission.
