County Electric Demonstration Contest - Our County Electric Demonstration Contest will be held Thursday, March 31st at West Side Elementary. Registration for the contest will begin at 6:00 and the contest will begin at 6:30. Due to the extreme amount of snow days this year, we are opening up the contest to anyone who wants to participate. Remember, this contest is sponsored by Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Cooperative and we need all the people we can get at this contest. The county winning 6th and 7th grade 4-Hers will receive a trip to 4-H Electric Camp this June!!!!

Academic Conference- ATTENTION ALL 6TH THROUGH 8TH GRADE 4-H MEMBERS!!! If you are interested in spending a fun-filled week at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, then Junior High Academic Conference is for you!!! Academic Conference will be held at UT Knoxville June 7-10. While at Academic Conference, you will learn about your project from UT specialists, experience college life, make new friends; spend a fun-filled day at Dollywood; and much more.  If you are interested in attending 4-H Academic Conference, there will be a workshop held at the 4-H office on Monday, March 21st at the 4-H office at 3:00 p.m. If you are unable to make the meeting there will be another one prior to the Honor Club meeting on Tuesday, March 29th at 3:00 p.m. at the 4-H office.

All Star Conference- The upcoming Spring All-Star Conference will be held at the Ridley 4-H Center on April 16th and 18th. All 9th grade Honor Club members and All-Stars should have received information regarding this. Please remember that the deadline for Registration in April 1st in the 4-H office.

NEXT HONOR CLUB MEETING- OUR NEXT HONOR CLUB MEETING WILL BE HELD MARCH 29TH AT THE  4-H OFFICE BEGINNING AT 6 PM. It is very important that everyone be here at this next meeting. We will be discussing upcoming events, planning our next workshop for prospective members, and getting the ball rolling again.

Farm Bureau Essay Contest- Attention all 4th and 7th grade 4-H members, Information was recently passed to all schools regarding the upcoming Farm Bureau Poster and Essay contest. The poster contest is being conducted with the help of the Cannon County Art Teachers and 4th grade teachers. The title of the poster contest is “Where Do We Get our Food”. The essay contest is for 7th grade 4-Hers and must be more than 300 words but less than 500 words entitled “What is a Farmer” and is being conducted with the help of the 7th grade teachers in the county. Prizes include $5.00 for the classroom winner and $25 – 20 – 15 for the county winning posters and essays. Special thanks to the Cannon County Farm Bureau for sponsoring the poster boards and prize money for the contest.
