20 Indicted By Cannon County Grand Jury

Friday marked the beginning of a new term of Cannon County Circuit Court.  As usual, the Cannon County Grand Jury met during Friday’s court session.  Those persons indicted by the Grand Jury included:

William Gary Jaco for criminal attempt to commit aggravated burglary, assault, manufacture of methamphetamine, initiating the process to manufacture methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine and failure to register as a sex offender;

Amanda C. Barrett for manufacture of methamphetamine, initiating the process to manufacture methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling to keep, use or sell methamphetamine

Ravi Goin for theft under $500.00, driving while being declared a habitual motor vehicle offender, driving while license revoked, failure to have proof of insurance, simple possession of schedule IV drugs and filing a false report;

Ila Kay Smith for child abuse, neglect or endangerment, public indecency, public intoxication and filing a false report;

Vickie Dornes Marsh for aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, four counts of assault and failure to appear;

Tammie Thompson for possession of drug paraphernalia;

Timothy Ryan Lawson for burglary, theft and five counts of forgery;

Robert Lynn Self for theft over $1,000.00;

Milton G. Taylor and Cynthia D. Taylor for maintaining a dwelling to keep, use or sell a controlled substance;

Jeff Thomas for arson;

Johnny Edward Lyons, Jr. for felony possession of cocaine and convicted felon in possession of a handgun;

Ashley D. Davidson for felony possession of cocaine and possession of a weapon;

Charles Matthew Gibbs for driving under the influence, violation of implied consent law, failure to show proof of insurance and possession of untaxed alcoholic beverages;

Lea Ann Farless for domestic assault, vandalism and disorderly conduct;

and

Napoleon Bonaparte Wainwright for domestic assault;

In addition to the indictments listed above, the Grand Jury returned 4 sealed indictments.  The names of those persons will not be released until they are arrested.

The next step for the defendants will be arraignment day on October 7, 2010.  During that hearing, everyone will be read their charges by a judge and appointed an attorney if they qualify for a public defender.

The Cannon Courier must stress that an indictment by the Grand Jury is not a finding of guilt.  It simply means that the Grand Jury felt there was enough evidence to set the case for trial.
