10 Local Entries In Regional Cultural Arts Contest

Family and Community Education (FCE) Clubs have county, regional, and state competitions for cultural arts annually.  The categories include: basketry, bead work, knitting, crocheting, tatting, embroidery, needlepoint, photography, quilts, weaving and more.

We had 10 entries this year in our county contest that will participate in the Central Region Cultural Arts Contest to be held in conjunction with the Central Region TAFCE Annual Meeting in Manchester on Thursday, September 15.

The following is the class, FCE member, and description of their entry:

Basketry — Frances Edwards — double walled Cherokee basket

Beadwork — Kitty Bush — beaded bracelet

Ceramics — Frances Edwards — Native American chief

Pottery — Kay Currie — short vase with stained carving at top, red, white, blue glaze

Crochet — Gail Norton — pink God Loves Me baby blanket

Fine Art Painting, Oil — Connie Rigsby — Waterfall at night

Photography, Color — Teresa Brandon — Blonde tabby with red foliage

Jacque Head — Sunrise

Quilt, machine pieced, hand quilted — Gail Norton — Red Hat Trip around the World

Woodcarving — Frances Edwards — Bird in Flight
